TRAILER BOATS Magazine features the TRACKERĀ® Pro Angler 16

Angling Armada

One of the most popular boating activities is fishing.  In the pursuit of fish, we are willing to rise at ungodly hours, travel great distances, invest in a slew of accessories and share exaggerated tales.  But that unique early morning freshness, the grandeur of a spectacular sunrise and the addictive tug on the line, makes it all worthwhile.  My, how we love this sport.

If your experience has been relegated to an occasional outing on someone else’s boat, or somewhere along the line you sold yours, then maybe it’s time to scratch the itch.  To help, we’ve rounded up eight freshwater fishing boats that represent some of the best values on the market today.  Let’s take a look at them.

Here is what Trailer Boats had to say about the TRACKER Pro Angler 16:

Springfield, MO.-based Tracker Marine Group (888/492-6382: trackerboats.com) has been building boats for 33 years.  Out of TRACKER’s Bass and Panfish Mod V Boat series comes the Pro Angler 16, an all-new model for 2011.

This narrow-beamed 16-footer features all-welded construction with a one-piece aluminum full.  Injected foam (not foam blocks) fills hull cavities and is covered with a pressure-treated wood sole that carries a limited lifetime warranty.  Marine-grade carpet provides a comfy, nonskid finish to the deck.

Although small in size and limited in power, the Pro Angler 16 has more fishing features than you can shake an Ugly Stik at.  A quiet Motorguide 12-volt 46-pound-thrust trolling motor coupled with a Lowrance X50 DS depthfinder gives you ninja-like stealth in searching out fish.

When you find them, the quick-access port-side rod holders (holding up to four 7-footers) let’s you get your line in the water swiftly.  And if the bite is on, the equally accessible 9-gallon aerated livewell built into the front console let’s you store your catch rapidly so you can get back at it.

Topping it all off, the boat comes with a color-matched powder-coated steel trailer – this for around $8,000.
